*Tigers love swimming; unlike most members pf the cat family and love getting wet! They often cool off in streams, rivers, swamps, and ponds. They are also more aquatic than most big cats! They have webbed toes and have been known to swim 5 miles! Tigers can drag prey twice their prey across water! They also stalk their prey in water! Also, in many parts of India, tigers compete with crocodiles for prey taking sips in their water holes.

* There are 6 tiger subspecies surviving today. They are the Sumatran tiger, Bengal tiger, Siberian tigers, Malayan tiger, South Chinese tiger, and Indochinese tiger. 

*Tigers can jump over 35 feet across in a single bound, and 16 feet high!

*Their eyesight is six times  better than a human's

*No two tigers have the same stripes

*There are rare mutations of white tigers.They have brownish stripes and have blue eyes. They are common in India and are extinct in the wild. They are not a different species,they’re actually white Bengal tigers.

*Tigers will hunt mostly at dawn, dusk, or nightime.

* There are only about 4,000 tigers in the wild. In the next 10-12 years, scientists predict tigers will go extinct!

* A tiger’s roar can be heard up to 2 miles away!

* The smallest tiger subspecies is the Sumatran.

* The tiger’s scientific name is Panthera tigris.

* The Bengal tiger is the most common tiger, taking up to 50 percent of the tiger population.

* In the 1900s, there where 100,000 tigers in the wild!

* In the early 1900s, there where only 60 wild Siberian tigers!

* The Siberian tiger is also known as the Amur tiger.

* Tigers are bigger and fiercer than your cuddly house cat, but they actually have a lot in common!

* Baby tigers have light blue eyes, and then they turn to a gold color once it gets older. Only white tigers have blue eyes as an adult.

* Tigers are skilled and capable of climbing sturdy and large trees.

* Even a tigers skin under the fur is striped.

* Tigers are the biggest wild cat. On average, they will be 450-500 pounds and 8-9 feet.

* The biggest tiger is the Siberian tiger. They can be 13 feet long and weigh 700 pounds!
